Purshotham's Outing
Purshotam is in his mid 40’s, has a lucrative job that allows him to work from home, a wife with kids and a lovely house. Purshotam has just about everything a person could ask for.
However, since working from home, he has noticed how disconnected he feels from his surroundings and realizes how it is a far cry from what he has experienced during his childhood. He barely knows the people on his block and hes started to realize how absurd this disconnection has become. He does a search for place to fulfill this gap and finds out about the local organization that pools together members from the locality and beyond while also engaging them in co creative endeavors.
This sounds like a boon to the impersonalization he has been feeling. Upon his application being approved, he is given a member access card to the private section within the premises. Purshotam appreciates this as he realizes he will be engaging only with a select group of people who are crafted to operate in an optimal manner as a group.
Upon entrance, he is greeted by a varied group of people who orient him around the pleasing premises. As the day progresses he notices just how diverse and versatile the place is with all its spaces and faces. This leaves a grin on purshotams face as it reminds him of the days where his family gathered around the village, where the multitude of ages and faces made him feel like he was part of a something large and connected.
He carefully finds himself a seat in the coworking space as he readies himself to finish the pending assignments from his employer. He can't wait to finish his work as he looks forward to engaging and getting to know what feels like a soon to be family.
Before opening his assignment however he quickly logs into the Roots website with his new username and password. As soon as he does so, wallah! he is exposed to a dashboard wherein all the members profiles are transparent along with their gifts and needs. Purshotam feels like he already knows everyone and has many topics of discussion to explore and things to engage in before barely meeting anyone. Further, he also notices a list of all the needs that the organization has. WIthin minutes he notices that the driving engine for this place is gratitude and everything that is mobilized happens through voluntary means.
Given this premise, he quickly notices that the space needs artists to perform in the outdoors amphitheatre. He instantly calls and requests his musician friend Ananth and then books a slot wherein the whole process is facilitated through the community manager. The manager immediately announces it on social media and puts it up on the calendar while also accounting for Purshothams offer in the contribution box.. Purshotham realizes that since this is a public event he can also call his friends and family. The next day everyone is seated @ sunset, enjoying the scenic panorama overlaid with the soft soothing music played by his friend. As the audience give a standing ovation, a placid, warm sensation overcomes purshotham as he notices faces both old and new interspersed throughout the amphitheatre.
The next day, upon awakening, Purshotham quickly logs on to see who is at the space. He quickly notices arjun profile on green indicating that he is present at the space. He quickly realizes that arjun was the guy who offered to design the logo for the startup he's been working on.. He quickly pings him, steps out of his house and advances towards the center. Purushothams grin is even wider than the day prior as he walks along the route to the space recounting the sudden string of events in a span of all but 2 days. Purshotham can't believe it! It's like reliving his childhood memories but only at a different order, a new octave! Before going up to meet arjun he quickly dashes into the silent room on the ground floor. There he sits for a few minutes processing and integrating this new influx of experience that is quickly becoming a central part of his daily life.
